All-Star defenseman Alex Edler scored the decisive goal in the sixth round of the shootout as the Vancouver Canucks extended their road winning streak to four games with a 4-3 triumph over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday.

Byron Bitz recorded a goal and an assist, Ryan Kesler and Daniel Sedin also scored and Roberto Luongo made 37 saves for Vancouver, which is 2-0-0 on its four-game road trip and 5-0-2 in its last seven overall.

After Sedin and rookie Cody Hodgson each hit the post on the Canucks' previous two attempts, Edler beat Pekka Rinne from the left faceoff circle to give Vancouver its fifth consecutive win at Bridgestone Arena. Luongo denied Colin Wilson on Nashville's final opportunity to end Rinne's 11-game winning streak.

Rinne, who was pulled in his previous two starts against Vancouver, struggled early again in this one as he allowed three goals on 11 shots in the first period. Kesler converted a power-play chance midway through the session and, after Wilson knotted the game two minutes later, Bitz and Sedin scored 23 seconds apart to give the Canucks a 3-1 lead.

Nashville scored on its first two shots of the second to forge another tie.

Defenseman Kevin Klein's slap shot from above the right faceoff circle caromed off Sergei Kostitsyn's skate and past Luongo at 4:14. Only 62 seconds later, Luongo stopped Mike Fisher's deflection of captain Shea Weber's wrister but inadvertently kicked the puck across the goal line.

The goal was Fisher's team-leading 16th of the season and seventh in six games.

Rinne stopped 28 shots for the Predators, who had their six-game home winning streak snapped.
