Canucks 3, Devils 2 (SO): Mike Santorelli scored the lone goal in the shootout to lift visiting Vancouver over New Jersey.

Ryan Kesler and Daniel Sedin tallied in regulation and Roberto Luongo turned aside 28 shots as the Canucks improved to 4-1-1 on their seven-game road trip and handed the Devils their third shootout defeat.

Eric Gelinas registered his first career goal and Patrik Elias also scored for New Jersey, which was unable to avenge a 3-2 overtime loss in Vancouver on Oct. 8 despite pouring 17 third-period shots on Luongo. Cory Schneider made 19 saves for the Devils, who owned a 30-21 edge in shots.

Elias, returning from a two-game absence due to food poisoning, directed a perfect crossing pass from Andrei Loktionov into an open right side of the net at 5:05 of the opening period, but the Canucks capitalized on a gaffe to tie it 62 seconds later. Schneider left a rebound for defenseman Andy Greene, who was moving behind the net, but Canucks captain Henrik Sedin swooped in and slid a pass to Kesler for an easy tap-in.

Gelinas put the Devils back in front 3 1/2 minutes later, when his wrist shot from above the left faceoff circle caromed off Vancouver defenseman Chris Tanev and past Luongo for a 2-1 lead. Daniel Sedin tied it at 12:37 of the second session, one-timing a carom off the end boards under the right pad of Schneider.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gelinas, who was called up from Albany of the American Hockey League on Wednesday when captain Bryce Salvador was placed on bereavement leave, gave the Devils a power-play tally in four consecutive games. ... Henrik Sedin's two assists were his eighth and ninth points during a seven-game streak. ... Vancouver played the final two periods with nine forwards after RW Dale Weise and LW David Booth were hurt in the opening session. In addition, the Canucks were without RW Jannik Hansen, who was placed on long-term injured reserve with an undisclosed injury.
