Drayson Bowman scored his first two goals of the season as the Carolina Hurricanes won for just the second time in 11 games, edging the visiting Vancouver Canucks 4-3 on Thursday night.
Bowman broke a tie in the opening minute of the third period, gathering a Chad LaRose pass deep in the slot and wristing it past the glove hand of Vancouver netminder Cory Schneider.
Jaroslav Spacek extended the lead at 6:12, connecting on a one-timer with Vancouver unable to gain control on a delayed penalty.
Alex Burrows jammed home a loose puck from the edge of the crease at 8:40 to trim the deficit, but the Canucks couldn't draw even as they dropped their second straight game.
Kevin Bieksa had the lone goal of the opening period, blasting a slap shot from the top of the circles past a screened Cam Ward 5:19 in.
Mason Raymond extended the advantage near the midway point of the second frame before the Hurricanes rallied.
Bowman's tap-in on an Anthony Stewart pass cut the deficit in half at the 16-minute mark, and Bryan Allen drilled a slap shot that deflected off Tuomo Ruutu and past Schneider in the final minute of the period to even things at 2-2.
