Chris Higgins and Dan Hodgson scored 21 seconds apart midway through the first period and the Vancouver Canucks never looked back en route to a 4-2 home triumph over the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday.
Alex Burrows and defenseman Alex Edler also tallied while Roberto Luongo made 38 saves to improve to 7-0-1 in his last eight starts for Vancouver, which has won 12 of 15 overall and six of seven at home.
The quick strikes by Higgins and Hodgson gave the Canucks a 2-0 lead. Higgins buried the rebound of Mason Raymond's breakaway chance and Hodgson beat Jimmy Howard with a slap shot from the top of the slot on a partial break.
Former Canuck Todd Bertuzzi got Detroit on the board less than four minutes later, but Burrows restored Vancouver's two-goal advantage when he tipped Daniel Sedin's pass past Howard with 4:20 remaining in the session.
Drew Miller scored his fourth goal in three games late in the second to get the Red Wings within 3-2. However, Edler backhanded a rebound into a vacant net while shorthanded 3 1/2 minutes into the third as Jannik Hansen crashed into Howard, giving the Canucks some breathing room.
Howard stopped 21 shots for the Red Wings, who have lost four of six on the road.
