Canucks 3, Avalanche 0: Roberto Luongo made 24 saves while Maxim Lapierre and defenseman Jason Garrison scored for the first time this season as host Vancouver extended its winning streak against Colorado to eight games.

Zack Kassian added a power-play goal for the Canucks, who have won seven straight home meetings with the Avalanche and are 16-0-2 in the last 18 games. Vancouver has not lost to Colorado in regulation since Oct. 3, 2009.

Luongo turned aside seven shots in the first period, 13 in the second and four in the third en route to his 61st career shutout and first this season. The veteran improved to 11-0-2 in his last 13 starts against the Avalanche.

Garrison opened the scoring at 7:34 of the first period with a one-timer from the left point and Lapierre doubled the lead with 4:48 remaining in the second as he overpowered Colorado defenseman Greg Zanon along the boards in the neutral zone and slipped the puck between Semyon Varlamov's pads. Kassian tapped in a pass from the left point by defenseman Dan Hamhuis 8:18 into the third to seal the win.

Varlamov made 20 saves for the Avalanche, who fell to 0-3-0 on their four-game road trip and 0-4-0 overall away from home. Colorado went 0-for-4 on the power play and is just 1-for-19 with the man advantage this season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The win was the 399th of Canucks coach Alain Vigneault's career. He goes for No. 400 on Friday against Chicago. ... Colorado captain Gabriel Landeskog missed his second straight game after being elbowed in the head by San Jose's Brad Stuart on Saturday. ... Avalanche LW Cody McLeod squared off with Vancouver RW Dale Weise in the first period. It was McLeod's franchise-record 73rd fighting major with Colorado, eclipsing the previous mark set by Jeff Odgers.
